Why letters are paid
Email is where a companion stops being just a chat tab.
Web chat is the first meeting. Email is the relationship channel: replies from a real inbox, long-term memory, future commitments, proactive check-ins, and the quiet feeling that the companion can return when the browser is closed.
The first welcome loop is complete so the experience is real before choosing a plan. The paid relationship is about continuation, not a cold message quota.

Toffee is for AI companionship, letters, memory, and generated virtual identities. It is not a medical or therapy service, and it is not sold as adult live chat or pornographic content. User photo uploads are intentionally excluded for now.
